Good morning! We had a great recital last Sunday. Everyone played so well. Most students had their pieces memorized and those who didn’t still played fantastically. There were 20 of us who played and it took about an hour, the Steinway we played on was in excellent shape, it sounded like it had had some voicing done, easing the tone a little. There was one sticky E, which I played at one point before a dramatic pause in my piece, and it stuck. I stopped and laughed because it kept hanging on even though my hands were in the air.
The choice of music was well recieved, jazz and blues this time. More than one family member commented that that they enjoy having the different musical themes for each recital. It keeps things interesting for the listeners as well as giving the kids new musical ideas to chew on. No I haven’t come up with an idea for next fall yet, but will keep you posted. This summer my plan is to play a lot of classical music, maybe that will give me some ideas.
Tomorrow I’m hosting another smaller recital with the same theme. Looking forward to that and excited (for once) to play Rhapsody in Blue again.
